Meetings are open to all University faculty members.




Members present: Peter Rolnick, Ken Fountain, Keith Doubt,

Kathryn Kulhman, Janice Grow, Marc Becker, David Gruber




Secretary Janice Grow read the treasurer’s report in Treasurer

James Harmon’s absence. The report showed assets of $256.53 at

end of 1999, a balance of $230.99 in April, 2000. Disbursements

were $105.54. Income was $80.00, local dues in amount of $20.00

and local dues received from national in the amount of $60.00.




There was informal discussion on the following items:


1) An email letter from Joyce Ragland distributed to AAUP members

email list.


2) Some expressed concern over the search for the History and

Philosophy of Science position. (After sharp criticism of the

critics by Ken Fountain, it was pointed out to Ken that AAUP had

not taken a position on this matter or made a statement. It was

recommend to Ken that he look at the letters of David Robinson

and the History discipline on this matter and voice his position

to these individuals. )


3) the forthcoming AAUP State of the University survey.


4) the vague ways in which Faculty Senate’s evaluation of the

administration is and is not disseminated.
