Dear Eileen:
At our annual meeting in Columbia, MO on March 5th,
the Missouri Conference voted unanimously to nominate David F. Gruber for the
Tacey Award. As President of the Conference, I am formally submitting his
nomination to the national office. You may be interested to know that the
Conference also established The David F. Gruber Leadership Development Award
which will work much like the Hopper award. As I am sure you are aware, David
has cancer and has had to give up all of his academic duties. We at the Missouri
Conference are doing all we can to make sure Davids fine work throughout the
years is recognized. He certainly is a deserving candidate for the Tacey Award.
Accompanying this cover letter is a summary of Davids contributions to the AAUP
prepared by his colleague, David Robinson.
