AAUP—September 2021

  1. Discussion of the COVID policy—next steps w AAUP petition
    1. Email Dr Thomas for clarification
      1. [When she deflects] focus: make a direct demand for the mandate
      2. Ask for a meeting w the President? Consensus was that email exchanges will be a better next step;
      3. What if she says wait until the incentive program concludes (early November)? consensus:  fine, but meanwhile build the petition response rate;
    2. Try to increase petition engagement—e.g., faculty and students
      1. Marc will try to combine files to get a list of faculty not having signed the petition; the chapter members will then do direct outreach to faculty not yet having signed.
    3. How do we get access to student emails? The eternal question…
  1. Town Hall
    1. Send put a reminder email to the faculty at large with an RSVP?
    2. Use Town Hall to lay out the lack of traction w the Administration
    3. What strategy following the Town Hall?
    4. Since the Provost/Legal Counsel wanted to know what the faculty wants? BOTH said they are okay w including NTT in these dates.  Anton suggests a survey of faculty. Anton: the main win here would be including the year-2-year folks esp. NTT
    5. Yuna: that the argument for the changed dates is especially unconvincing for faculty in year 3 and beyond—
    6. Anton is willing to chair the Two Hall; need slides
    7. Anton will write a blurb for TruToday
  1. Faculty Promotion issue tabled until October meeting.
