Peter Rolnick Resolution
RESOLUTION of Truman Chapter of American Association of University Professors (AAUP)
WHEREAS Peter Rolnick has been a faculty member at Truman State University for twenty-three years (even though it was not called that when he was hired); and
WHEREAS he has applied his fine mind to enlighten the youth in the wonders of physics (encountering persistent if variable resistance at every point); and
WHEREAS his love of music has infected us all through wonderful performances with Redwing and the like; and
WHEREAS he has been indefatigable member and officer of Truman State University’s AAUP chapter for longer than anyone can remember (really, no one can); and
WHEREAS he has stood for the principles of academic freedom and shared governance, bringing his wisdom to places where it was sorely needed, to wit: Undergraduate Council, Faculty Senate, the Provost office, etc.; and
WHEREAS we especially appreciate a crowning achievement of his work in the recent decision of the Board of Governors to make our non-discrimination policy finally more inclusive; and
WHEREAS he sees fit to leave us now for a well-deserved retirement;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Truman chapter of American Association of University Professors (AAUP) declares that Peter Rolnick be our ever-honored founding member, to go down in the annals of Truman State University history as a champion of all good things.
