    Res Oct20 Divweb

    AAUP RESOLUTION ON DIVISION-LEVEL WEB
    PAGE MANAGEMENT

    PASSED OCT. 20, 2000

    (And decided to forward to Faculty Senate for further consideration)

    Whereas an informed university community is a desirable goal, and

    Whereas academic divisions at Truman at serve as an important source
    of information to respective discipline faculty and students – as well
    as a useful source of information for purposes of student recruitment,
    faculty recruitment and alumni updates, and

    Whereas the quantity, quality, and currency of information available
    on these Web pages is extremely uneven, ranging from good to poor

    Whereas most quality universities now have current and informative academic
    division Web pages at the administrative level of dean

    Be it resolved that AAUP hereby strongly encourages each division head
    to conduct a review of respective division Web pages and to establish procedure
    by which pages promulgating announcements, schedules of meetings and events,
    information relating to academic advising, division-level policies and
    procedures, and other division-specific information can be kept current
    and navigable;

    Be it further resolved that the respective division heads be requested
    to establish a procedure of oversight, to be made publicly available, by
    which division-level academic pages are reviewed and monitored for currency,
    substance, and the capacity to positively reflect on each academic division
    and the University as a whole;

    Be it finally resolved that the maintenance and conformance of division-level
    administration Web pages be an element included in the annual faculty evaluation
    of the division head.
